About Our Physiotherapy Service
Helping Young People Move with Confidence
Physiotherapy is about supporting the body to move well, function effectively, and recover from injury or difficulty. For children and young people, that means being able to run, play, participate in sport, and engage in everyday physical activity with confidence — at every stage of development.
At Therapy for Kids Perth, our physiotherapists work with children, adolescents, and young adults across a wide range of presentations — from early developmental delays and gross motor challenges, to injury rehabilitation and management of chronic or complex conditions.
We take a warm, engaging, and evidence-based approach — creating therapy that is fun and motivating for young people, and practical and sustainable for families.

Low Muscle Tone and Hypotonia
Targeted therapy to build strength, stability, and functional movement in children with low muscle tone — improving endurance, posture, and physical participation.
Hypermobility

Physiotherapy support for autistic children and young people and those with developmental conditions — addressing gross motor, coordination, sensory-motor, and physical participation goals.
Torticollis and Plagiocephaly
Early assessment and management of neck tightness and head shape concerns in infants and young children — supporting optimal development and range of movement.
Strength and Conditioning
Evidence-based exercise programs to build strength, improve function, and support long-term physical health in adolescents and young adults.
How We Work
Our Approach to Physiotherapy
Our physiotherapists use evidence-based assessment and treatment approaches tailored to the age, presentation, and goals of each young person. For younger children, therapy is play-based and engaging — focused on building movement skills through activities children enjoy. For older children, adolescents, and young adults, sessions are more structured and goal-directed, often including exercise programs and sport-specific rehabilitation.
We involve families throughout the process, providing home exercise programs and practical strategies that extend the benefits of therapy into everyday life. Where appropriate, we also liaise with schools and other health professionals to ensure a coordinated approach to care.
Initial assessment
A thorough assessment of your child's movement, strength, coordination, and physical function — identifying areas of need and establishing clear, meaningful goals.
Ongoing therapy
Engaging, evidence-based sessions focused on building movement skills, strength, and confidence — fun for kids and practical for families.
Home programs and family support
We provide home exercise programs and practical strategies so the work done in sessions carries into everyday life — because consistency is key to progress.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if my child needs physiotherapy?
Signs that your child might benefit from a physiotherapy assessment include difficulty keeping up with peers in physical activities, poor coordination or balance, frequent falls or trips, toe walking, complaints of pain or discomfort in joints or muscles, or a recent injury. If you are unsure, our team is happy to discuss your concerns and help you decide whether an assessment would be helpful.
Do I need a referral to access physiotherapy?
You do not need a referral to book a physiotherapy appointment. However, if you would like to access Medicare rebates through a Chronic Disease Management Plan, you will need a referral from your GP. For NDIS clients, an active NDIS plan with capacity building funding is required.
Do you provide home and school visits?
Yes — our physiotherapists can visit children at home, at school, or in community settings. This can be particularly valuable for younger children, or where the goal is to support physical participation in a specific environment such as a playground or classroom.
Can physiotherapy help children with autism or ADHD?
Yes — physiotherapy can be very beneficial for autistic children and young people and those with ADHD, particularly where there are gross motor delays, coordination difficulties, sensory-motor challenges, or low muscle tone. Our therapists take a supportive, engaging approach that works with each child's individual profile.
Do you offer telehealth physiotherapy sessions?
Yes — some physiotherapy services are available via telehealth, including home exercise program reviews, parent coaching, and follow-up consultations. Please contact our admin team to find out which services are available remotely.
